Marine Internal Lead Auditor (VIRTUAL)

Course Summary:

This course is designed to teach and practice the specific skills, knowledge and abilities needed to conduct and lead internal audits for commercial marine companies.

Course Description:

Length: Two days (16 hours) Virtual Setting
Course materials provided
Maximum class size: 30, Minimum class size 8. Course is presently being provided remotely using computers.
This course has been recognized as “Substantially equal to an ISO 9001 auditor course by the United States Coast Guard and meets the Subchapter M requirements for internal auditor training.
The course meets the requirements of ANSI/ASSE Z 490.1-2016 Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, health and environmental training and 46 CFR 138.310(d)(2) for those individuals performing internal audits under Subchapter M.
This course is audited by a third party annually

Internal auditors who need to comply with the training requirements outlined in Subchapter M: 46 CFR 138.310 (d)(2).

Company management wishing to enhance effective internal auditing techniques aligned with the objective of a TSMS in Subchapter M.

Instructor Bios:

Rick Dunn, of SafeMARINER, LLC

Certified Safety and Health Manger, Certified Occupational Safety and Health Trainer, TMSA Auditor, Internal marine auditor, former member of AWO’s Responsible Carrier Program Board. Former Vetting Manager-North America, SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., USCG Licensed Master, USCG approved simulator instructor for tugs, pilots and ships. American Society of Safety Engineers Professional.

Capt. David A. Foret, Jr., President of the ACTion group

David has over 40 years’ experience in the towing vessel industry. He started the ACTion group in 1999. He holds a Merchant Mariner Credential endorsed as Master of Towing Vessels, Tankerman-PIC (Barge) Dangerous Liquids and Liquefied Gas cargoes, TVIB-Certified Subchapter M Auditor certification, TVIB-Certified Subchapter M Surveyor including Dry-Dock/Internal Structural Exam, he is also a certified ISO 9000 Lead Auditor, TMSA Auditor, and Crew Endurance Management Systems (CEMS) Expert. He serves as Chairman of the Houston Pilot Board’s, Pilot Board Investigation Review Committee (PBIRC) representing the interests of the Brownwater towing vessel community for the past 20 years. He is also Chairman of the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee. www.theagcteam.com

Documentation:

Course materials will be provided  prior to class.
Practical exercises, role playing, quizzes, a final exam and active participation in class are required to earn your certificate

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be submitted one week (7 days) prior to the first day of the course.  Please note that a cancellation fee of $150 will be charged.  No refund will be issued for non-attendance without notification, or for early withdrawal from the course.  Please send cancellation notifications to: daniellem@thetvib.org

Please note that TVIB reserves the right to cancel this course based on enrollment numbers and/or instructor availability no later than two weeks before the first day of class.  TVIB will not be responsible for reimbursements to course registrants for travel/accommodation expenses.
